It´s Raining Moths

Hey everyone! The rainy season has officially arrived in Honduras. Basically, if it´s not raining, it will any second or be moist and dark all day until it actually starts raining. Tropical Storm Alma is heading this way. By the time it gets to Guaimaca, it should be a Tropical Depression. Which means even more rain and even more mud. Sorry about the typos, I am not on my laptop right now, since I am at the Internet Cafe. Today I woke up around 6:15 for big circle. But, it was raining, so circle was held in the individually houses this morning. Big circle is definitely my favorite, but at least I have five more Fridays to go. I ate some scrumptious Pop-Tarts for breakfast-thanks for packing them Mom and Dad, and a nice glass of warm water. I forgot to put ice in the freezer last night. : (. I went to get the toddlers with three other volunteers, and took them for a walk around the orphanage. The toddlers have grown up so much! Over half of them go to pre-school now. They are just as cute as ever. After our adventurous walk, I worked at the school for a little while. I trimmed all the plants and threw away all of the brown leaves. Robert (the principal) wants to make the school look as nice as possible, especially since there are so many meetings coming up. We swept all of the floors in the school. Because of all of the rain, it is hard to sweep, due to the wet floors. All of the dirt goes to the corners and is really hard to get up, especially with straw brooms. I took a short nap for about forty-five minutes, to try to catch up on sleep. I am slowly getting used to waking up at 6:15 and going to bed by 8:00. I ate a great lunch at the new, orphanage restaurant. Pork chops, potato salad, and some great, home-made tortillas. After lunch, I had to work the Internet cafe. All of the volunteers are taking shifts. It is really easy, and great because there is air-conditioning. Although the temperature is my room is about 77 degrees, which is great, with two fans, and rain. I actually got cold last night. All of the rain attracts a lot of bugs, especially these nasty, little moths. Are house was infested with them! The good thing is they only live for twenty-four hours, die if you barely touch them. I had probably a hundred in my room. When they die their wings go everywhere, so it is always fun to sweep them up. : ). I finally got a drink with caffeine today, a Pepsi light, which tasted so good. I will talk to you all soon! I love you!

Hey Hope, it's Katelyn. It sounds so exciting there. Mona wants to know if you have a specific phone number we can get Gina to call you on. I hope you carried youre super cute rain boots! Give Dunia and Marisol a giant hug for me, and know that i am thinking about you everyday. I've met this guy at Mona's and he's pretty amazing. We've seen a few movies, gone to the aquarium, toured the french quaters (i at a beignet for ya), and even went and saw the haunted Lalaurie mansion; he has an older brother just your age too so we have to come back when youre home! The only thing that would have made this week better would be if you were down here, playing WiiBoogie and acting a fool with all of us. Holly beth made a triple in her softball game; needless to say Mona was coaching and i was fearing she was about to saranade us with a "Pork Chop, Pork Chop." The littlest thing have reminded me of you; guachamole, red high heals on High School Musical (which we've watched multiple times), coach purses, bare natural make-up, and TCBY are just a few. Email me everytime you get a chance because i everytime i get a chance i think of you and begin missing you even more that i do (which is unfathomable.) Te amo, Bonita! Don't forget that you are serving the lord while changing many lives; i'm sure its rockign your world as well.

Okay - I can't believe that katelyn said the same thing about your rain boots - I guess we just might have to bring them to you when we come - Although, I do think the kids would laugh at you -Do the moths make any kind of sound. Do they freak you out as much as bees and crickets. I guess you are talking about Dunia's restaurant - What is it called? Nothing like a good cold american pop tart--is there. I am still laughing and getting a visual image of your face when Robert asked you to do yard work. I guess you probably didn't say to him what you would have said to me had I asked you to do yard work. I remember that even the most horrible job can be amazingly rewarding when you are at the Orphanage. I will be checking behind you when I get there to see what your landscaping skills are - you know I could use your help in our yard! HA :o) You need to stop with this tropical depression stuff - you know its the mom thing again - like when the tornado warning siren goes off in Auburn and all I want to do is go out in the storm and get you guys from school. - Just tell me its like you are at the beach and its beautiful and sunny and that you are putting sunscreen on everyday!!!
OK whats up with your sister trying to set you up with a New Orleans guy.

I am also trying to imagine you waking up at 6:15 -- on your own......wow and that you only took a 45 minute nap!

Has Oscar given you one of his famous "big wet kisses" ?
I can't wait to hug and see so many people there - Oh especially Dunia, Michelle and sweet funny and crazy Marisol.

We never took into consideration your addiction to TCBY - I hope you will make it 5 weeks - bet there is not much like that in Honduras. Then Katelyn has to make us both feel bad by bragging about beignets -----

Pepsi and Pop Tarts now that really is an american delicacy!

Did you get the visual image of your aunt doing "pork chop, pork chop greasy greasy " that will certainly keep you laughing for a long time.

Ask Dunia if she can make guacamole for me!!!

God is so good! I am so happy that you are there. I know you will be a blessing to so many there - but even more I know that like last year - you will not even be able to count or fathom the blessings that you are receiving in that special place. It is such a wonderful time for you and such a wonderful place to serve God, but also to be refreshed, renewed and have time to think about what an awesome God we have. I love you and miss you. Keep sending messages and blogging and I love the chatting although you know I still have difficulties with techno stuff - I am working on it. I hope you don't miss a minute of this adventure you are on - moths and all. :o)

Alright - what was Ank's big idea about sharing the plane crash info- As if I don't worry enough about you - I may have to not watch the news are read these comments - Maybe they make a pill that would calm my nerves - and you know I am not the nervous or emotional type and then Cis has to talk about all lines of communication going down first. I will have to talk to them about being so detailed. No really, I know that you are fine - you are quite good at handling problems on your own and you have everything under control - like Tropical Depressions. I also know that God will provide and protect you - so -I will keep praying and I also might look into nerve pills - HA HA. I am so glad that Cis was able to include a special message to you from her bird and her cat - they have such creative pet names. :) I will call uncle con and let him know how to do the blog thing and make sure he has you email address. Of course you know that I am now an expert on computer communication. Love you!

Dear Hopey, We were ABSOLUTELY STUNNED AND OVERJOYED to get your call yesterday!!!We LOVED hearing from you!!!!!

More news from Uncle Con. He says that after a lot of rain there, the mosquitoes will increase in size and numbers and even start dive-bombing their "meals". He said if you didn't bring Pink Monday pills, you should go to a local pharmacy and get enough for each Monday you are there. Can't hurt, might help. We think the drug is Aralen.

Anky and I are on the countdown- - -He goes back into the Salvation Army on Monday. He's going to try to get in and out as quickly as possible, and get a new, (long time) director in place.

I got a great report on my tumor marker blood test. My number was even lower than the first one I had, years ago, long before my tumor appeared (last year).

We have made numerous trips to our storage rooms since you've been gone. We are finding even more good stuff for your college apt., if you want it.

Must run!! We have made a long list of accomplishments we hope to achieve today. Things that may not get done for awhile, after Anky goes back into the world of the S.A. We are leaving in the morning to go to Destin, meet Katsie and the Bordelons, and enjoy over night with them down there. Unfortunately we will not be able to stay longer because Anky & Katsie have to get back to the "real" world.
Anky and I and our furry and feathery menagerie all send our Love. Please be careful and ENJOY. P.S. Uncle Con says DON'T GO INTO TOWN WITHOUT A MAN WITH YOU. XOXOXOXO Cis

Estimada nieta,
(I Jn. 4:16, I Jn. 4:7). Te amo. Escribas pronto. Ank

OK, first let me say that I am so excited for you that you had the opportunity to go to Honduras and that you went. Second, I have tears in my eyes reading all of the messages from your mom, sister & g'parents. Good grief, I am such a sap.

It sounds like you are having a wonderful time so far. Reading your stories of what has already happened makes me think of the trips I have been on to Brazil & Mexico.

I think it is so funny that your g'father & g'ma told you about the crash and the latest message from them about the mosquitos getting bigger and that they will begin to "dive bomb" into you for their dinner! I have just had to laugh at these messages on your blog.

You have such a wonderful family and I know that you are aware of that. I am glad you have this blog and I can see what all you are doing! Have a wonderful time!!!!!
