The Danes

Today, the four Danish volunteers left. They had been here for four months, so it was hard to see them go, especially for the kids. I woke up at 6:15 this morning, it is my regular wake-up time. I went to the little girl's circle. I love going their. I had a granola bar and a peanut butter tortilla for breakfast, it was really good. I have toddler duty every morning, from 7:50 to 9:30. We play with the six kids who are not in preschool yet. Daniel, managed to wet his pants twice in thirty minutes, Erlon spilled a whole container of bubbles, and Memo decided to wipe his snot on the toys. Other, than that, it was quite a good morning. Jessica, finally looked and smiled at me today. She was severely abused when she was little, so this was a big step. She will not talk to anyone but her sisters, and will not look any adults in the face. She has come such a long way, though. It hasn't rained here in two days, so it is pretty hot. Hopefully it will this afternoon or tonight. I didn't get to go play with the baby pigs today, but hopefully I will get to tomorrow, or some time this week. On Wednesday night, the boys who won first place in the talent show are having their pizza party with all of us volunteers. I can't wait. It should be alot of fun, and all of the boys are super excited. I had a rice tortilla for lunch and pepsi, since there is no diet coke here. I went to afternoon devotional with the toddlers and ate dinner with them. Rice, beans, and cherry kool-aid. The lady who cooks for the toddler house, Glenda, is probably one of the best cooks at the orphanage. Her tortillas are some of the best. I love and miss you all!

I'll bet it was hard to see the "The Danes" leave. Are you waking up on your own now (no alarm?). Granola bar and peanut butter tortilla-yum! Sounds like you got a work out with the toddlers. Have the new ones arrived yet? I really like their names....Erlon, Memo (where did that come from?).

It was neat to hear about the progress that Jessica is making at OE. Truly a wonderful place! How many sisters does she have? Are they all at OE? What are their ages? I think it is neat that the toddlers have afternoon devotional

Disappointed about no baby pig stories, pictures or videos. Maybe tomorrow.

A pizza party-yeah! Is their pizza like ours?

Thanks for the pictures. Less that a week before we see you. Can't wait. Love You, Pops

Dear Hopey, It's HOT as BLUE BLAZES HERE! We have gotten a little rain, thank goodness.

This AM your Mom, "D", and I placed the order for your diploma & tassle to be framed. We all hope you will approve of our choices. We think it looks really great.

Will you please tell your Mom where your bracelet and charm/s are? I would like to have it ready for you upon y'alls return.

You absolutely won't believe what I am about to tell you about Tweetsie, BUT IT'S TRUE. We let her out each morning to have fun flying in the neighborhood. Today when Anky and I pulled in for lunch, she swooped down, circled us,& went into the garage. When I opened the kitchen door, she flew into the kitchen and got on her perch on our wine rack. Anky's mouth dropped in disbelief. After a delicious lunch of kitty food, meal worms&a peach slice, she was ready to go back out for the afternoon. When I got into the van this aft. to run errands, she swooped down again. I told her I'd be back, and+++++++++6999999999999999999999996666666666666666666666666666666696+(notice Tweetsie's typing) I watched to make sure she did not follow me out of the driveway. When I returned home this evening, I had to call her a little longer than usual for her to come home. She must have been one street over. But sure enough she came swooping down from the wooded lot behind us. She has had her dinner & is helping me write you again. Her feathers are beautiful. She is an adolescent bird now. Can't wait for you to see her antics. We are having such fun with her. Sweetie Pie, isn't too happy about having to share our attention.

Anky is on his way back from Night Train rehearsal. Must run.

Lots of Love, Bunches of Hugs, and Cis, Sweetie & Tweetie Kisses

Yuck - tee tee and snot - what a way to start your day! - As much as I love children - and enjoy my job - I DON'T like body fluids - I certainly hope you took a mid-morning shower. Bless Jessica's heart - how old is she. It is unbelieveable to me how much pain some of these children have endured, and yet they are survivors. God is good and it is amazing how he can take all that pain away eventually and give them the ability to enjoy life again. I know that must have meant the world to you to have her smile. Another universal language - that knows no barriers = not language, not age, not pain.... wow.

You and the baby pigs - I hope it goes without saying - that NO you may not bring a baby pig back to Auburn!!! So enjoy while you are their - or you could always change your major to agriculture and work at the swine lab. Now that sounds like you doesn't it.....NOT!

The "BreakDance Boys" - infamous at OE - you guys should require them to do an encore before they have supper - I so hope we will get a chance to watch them show off when we are there.

Are you loosing you love for diet coke - are just tired of hoping to find it - either way = Pepsi is a good substitute when in need! haha - but you know a big glass of Cherry KoolAid - can certainly hit the spot. Love you
