Orphanage Emmanuel Talent Show

Today, I got to sleep in once again. There is not usually circle on Saturday mornings. I had to work at the store this morning, which was super hot. I got to wash about two hundred, fresh carrots. It looked like a huge carrot when I left. I had dirt all over me. The store is running low on food, especially charamuscas, and hopefully we will have a shipment sometime this week. Dunia should be returning from Tegucigalpa today. I can't wait to see her. Four volunteers leave on Monday, and Four more leave on Thursday. We are supposed to be getting three new ones today, but they have not arrived yet. The talent show is tonight at five, so today we have been busy setting up and helping the kids finish last minute details on their talents. It should be alot of fun. The family from Gainesville, Georgia, has two little girls who have been wanting to spending the night with us. So tonight after the talent show we are going to have a slumber party with them at their house, and let their parents have a break. : ). Tomorrow, is church. I can't wait. I must go finish getting ready for the talent show. I love and miss you all!

Hi, Hope.
Que pasas? What kind of talent will there be? Any instrumentalists? I can't think of anything more constructive than being a longer term volunteer at OE. Can you ask around and see if there are any pitaya fruit available? We found some in Mexico about this time of the year. They probably would not let you bring any back, but they are good and would be worth your time to find some and try them. They are magenta colored and about the size and shape of a medium turnip. On the inside they look like a giant pink kiwi fruit. I have never seen them in the store in the US. Que Dios te bendiga!
Te amo,
Ank

Excited to hear about the talent show! Are you going to do something in the talent show? You have always had a thing about carrots (remember the picture of you as a baby eating carrots)! What are charamuscas? I guess since Dunia has been gone the restaurant has not been open. I know you will glad when she returns. Are the new volunteers arriving by charter bus from San Pedro Sula? Missed chatting with you last night. Sounds like we might not be able to chat tonight if you have a slumber part. But, that is o.k. Have fun! Great of you guys to give the Gainesville, Georgia family a break. You will have to provide us with more details about them. Love you and miss you too (a bunch!), Dad

I am guessing the La Tienda is a little different that last year - carrots and charamuscas.... what else is there?? My memories are of bon bons, chips, pepsi's and ice cream. Please tell me that someone got a picture of you and the carrots. Were the carrots grown at OE. Who shops at the store?

I know you will be so happy to see Dunia. How many volunteers will be there after the 8 leave? I know you will miss Anna Rebecca alot when she leaves next week. I am so happy that the two of you were able to be there together. This is definately a summer that you both will never forget.

How old are the girls from Georgia. What do you have planned for the slumber party? Don't stay up too late - I know you are looking forward to church tomorrow.

Not to always bring up the subject of our long bus ride - but PLEASE ask the new volunteers to give you the 411 on the ride. I am hoping it won't be as bad as I think.

Don't forget - we want to know what bread on a stick is. Love you -

9 more days!!!
